Shaquille Leonard visited with the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday and will meet with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.

By all accounts, Leonard's visit with the Cowboys went well.

The linebacker is expected to make a decision by the weekend.

Leonard was recently released by the Indianapolis Colts.

The Las Vegas Raiders are releasing veteran cornerback Marcus Peters.

Peters watched most of the Raiders' loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday from the sidelines.

Peters, 30, was benched midway through the second quarter following a badly missed tackle and was seen having a brief exchange with interim coach Antonio Pierce.

Veteran defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is expected to sign with the Miami Dolphins, a source told ESPN, in the wake of a season-ending Achilles injury to linebacker Jaelan Phillips.

The South Florida native Pierre-Paul, who signed with the New Orleans Saints on Nov. 15 and is on the team's practice squad, said in a post to his Instagram account Monday night that he's "coming home."

The Indianapolis Colts have released Shaquille Leonard.

With a base salary of $15.6 million, Leonard is due $6.1 million for the rest of the year. Leonard's play this season has dropped after being a Pro Bowler in his first four seasons after entering the league in 2018.

The Cleveland Browns are signing Super Bowl-winning quarterback Joe Flacco to their practice squad, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Field Yates.

It is expected that Flacco will get promoted to the active roster, sources told Schefter and Yates.

The Browns worked out Flacco on Friday.

The Browns are looking to add a third quarterback with Deshaun Watson out for the season because of a fracture to his throwing shoulder. 

Cleveland is starting rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Browns also have PJ Walker on the roster. 

Coming off an offseason in which he failed to reach a long-term deal with the New York Giants, Saquon Barkley spoke about the lack of loyalty in the NFL these days.

The running back reported on the first day of training camp with an adjusted tag for one year at $10.1 million with approximately an additional $900K available in incentives.

Barkley, who leads the Giants with 568 rushing yards, was asked if being a good soldier and handling a huge workload would be viewed as a benefit when it came to getting a new contract (whether it be in New York or elsewhere) because of his loyalty to the organization.

"Loyalty means nothing," he said. "Loyalty, that don't mean nothing. No matter how loyal, no matter how committed you are, it's a business at the end of the day. That is something that I have learned."

The Los Angeles Rams have signed Carson Wentz to serve as backup to Matthew Stafford.

Wentz spent the 2022 season with the Washington Commanders, but was released in February with two years remaining on his contract.

Wentz was drafted No. 2 overall in the 2016 draft by the Philadelphia Eagles after the Rams instead took Jared Goff.

The Chicago Bears are "confident" they can sign Montez Sweat to a long-term deal after acquiring the defensive end in a trade with the Washington Commanders earlier this week.

Sweat, 27, is playing on the final year of his rookie deal.

"I feel really confident that we can get a deal done," general manager Ryan Poles said.

Since being drafted in the first round in 2019, Sweat is one of six players to notch at least five sacks in each of the last five seasons.

"I think it's capitalizing right now because you start to lose opportunities," Poles said about trading for Sweat. "If you look at the free agent stack now, it's going to look very different by the time you get to that point of the year because there are so many different opportunities that can pop up in terms of extensions, tags, different things like that. So, we decided with that type of player we wanted to capitalize on that now."

Kirk Cousins is done for the season with an Achilles injury and is due to become a free agent.

Despite that, Kevin O'Connell has expressed a desire to see Cousins return to the Minnesota Vikings.

"Kirk Cousins is going to be healthy again," O’Connell said. "I know he's going to be a free agent after this season, but Kirk knows how I feel about him and that will be something, you know, that hopefully will work itself out. ... You guys know how I feel about Kirk. Kirk knows how I feel about Kirk. I think he was playing as well as anybody in the National Football League."
